...or do we get our claws out and tear it to shreds? A no-spoiler review. The beginning credit montage to portray the ‘early years’ (which had a few similarities to the better opening titles of Watchmen) started the adrenalin pumping action that I'm glad to say kept going almost to the end of the film There was a well balanced mix of character development, visuals, storytelling and special effects, however I wished there was a bit more time devoted to Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) The interactions and sparks between Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) were plausible and there are a few nice developments. Kayla Silver Fox (Lynn Collins) matched well with Wolverine playing his love interest. Like most action movies, there are the moments when the special effects and action are a bit over the top, but I got over that as it's a comic book to sci-fi fantasy movie crossover. If you cope with adamantium laminated bones and 12-inch retractable claws springing out all over the place then the rest of it makes perfect sense too :o) The cast were great, even will.i.am’s first big screen role playing John Wraith a mutant who can teleport. Toward the end it seemed to stumble and slow, as if the last few pages of the screenplay went missing, but it picked itself up and continued on. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is right up there with the original X-Men and X-Men-2 and leaves X-men Last Stand for dead. As we all know, that one totally blew.
PS. Thanks to Myspace for the Black Curtain screening and a chance to see this movie early!
